Siri AI is Apple’s rebuilt Siri. It understands your personal data and what’s on your screen, and it can do things across your apps. It works in English in the US and UK.
What is Siri AI
Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri. It is in public beta for now. Besides knowing your data, it can answer a much wider range of general-knowledge questions.
Apple Intelligence is the name for Apple’s whole set of AI features, and Siri AI is one of them. People often mix the two up, and each has its own language list. For the other features, see the iOS 27 AI features guide.
What Siri AI can do
- Find things: pull what you need from your messages, email and photos.
- Understand your screen: it knows what you’re looking at, so you can ask a follow-up right away.
- Act across apps: draft an email, or edit a photo and share it.
- Dedicated app: start a new conversation or go back to an old one.
Why Apple teamed up with Google
In 2024, Apple promised a Siri that knows your personal data, understands your screen and works across apps. In 2025, Apple said the work would take longer than it had thought.
In January 2026, Apple and Google issued a joint statement. Apple’s next generation of its own AI models would be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology. In September, Siri AI launched in beta with iOS 27.
These models run on your device and on Private Cloud Compute, Apple’s cloud service. Apple says your personal data isn’t stored there and that neither Apple nor anyone else can access it.
Siri AI and Google’s Gemini app are separate products. ChatGPT is still an optional add-on, and it only works where ChatGPT is offered.
Which devices work and how to turn it on
- iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models and later, iPhone Air, and iPhone Duo.
- iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro: check Apple’s compatibility list.
To turn it on:
- Update to the latest software.
- Set your device language and Siri language to the same supported language. Your Apple Account also needs to be in an eligible region.
- Go to Settings → Siri → Try Siri AI (Beta). Pick a Siri voice, record your own voice, and read the privacy details.
- That puts you on a waitlist. When your turn comes, Siri AI downloads automatically.
Features that use cloud AI have a daily usage limit, and the limit changes by feature and demand.
Siri AI in the US and UK
Siri AI has worked in English since the public beta opened in September 2026, in both the US and the UK. The EU limits listed below do not cover the UK.
Expressive Siri voices support US and UK English on compatible devices.
Splitting a bill with Apple Cash through Siri AI or Visual Intelligence is US only.
Other regions
- Siri AI now supports six languages: English, plus French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, which arrived with iOS 27.2. Apple says Traditional Chinese is coming by the end of the year.
- In the EU, Siri AI is not available on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. On Mac and Apple Vision Pro it works in English.
- Apple Accounts in mainland China can’t use Siri AI. China’s iOS 27.3 update in December brings some Apple Intelligence features, with Alibaba’s Qwen built in, and does not include Siri AI.
